Se nos alienta a ampliar los horizontes en nuestra vida personal y profesional, aprender nuevas habilidades y estar abiertos a enfoques que pueden diferir de nuestra manera habitual de operar. Lo mismo puede decirse de la iluminación, especialmente en un contexto minorista. La exposición e iluminación son clave en el éxito de la venta minorista y la forma en que se presentan los productos. Observar otras industrias donde la exhibición también es un factor crítico puede ser una buena oportunidad para que los minoristas prueben nuevas técnicas y diferentes enfoques.
Bien planificada, la iluminación es intrínseca a las exhibiciones en museos y galerías, donde piezas históricas y preciosas obras de arte se exponen para lograr el máximo impacto. Es posible que estos espacios privados y públicos no «vendan», pero deben ofrecer una experiencia satisfactoria que cumpla con las expectativas del individuo. La iluminación es clave en esta ecuación, se utiliza para guiar emociones, comunicar historias y mejorar los espacios de exposición. Se pueden aplicar los mismos principios para crear una experiencia de compra más agradable.
Nuestra experiencia en el suministro de la iluminación del icónico Museo del Diseño de Londres demostró la importancia de plantear una iluminación que complemente la arquitectura existente, tanto interna como externa. La diferenciación zonal permite que la iluminación se alinee con áreas específicas para facilitar la exploración. Al mismo tiempo, debe equilibrarse con la necesidad de crear una experiencia constante para el cliente y sin problemas en todo el entorno. Lo mismo se aplica al comercio minorista.
Las tendencias cambian y cualquier proyecto, ya sea de modernización, reacondicionamiento o nueva construcción, debe tener en cuenta el futuro a la hora de diseñar y especificar los requisitos de iluminación. Deben incorporarse sistemas flexibles que faciliten la actualización de la apariencia de un espacio mediante la redefinición o el cambio de color para no tener que desmontar y reemplazar los accesorios.
La iluminación del Riverside Transport Museum de Glasgow, el primer edificio público de Zaha Hadid en el Reino Unido, ofrece algunos paralelismos interesantes. Los elementos históricos irreemplazables deben protegerse del daño y, al mismo tiempo, estar claramente iluminados. Los LED con baja emisión de luz ultravioleta ayudan a proteger frente la exposición, mientras que la iluminación puntual atrae la atención y minimiza el deslumbramiento. Paralelamente, la temperatura de color y exposición son muy importantes en la venta minorista para proteger las telas de la decoloración y degradación, una prenda iluminada por luz halógena cálida mostrará signos de desgaste y no se podrá vender.
Los LED suelen ser la solución óptima para los minoristas. Su capacidad de luminaria y su rango flexible, combinados con un menor consumo energético los hace adecuados para la mayoría de entornos.
