A complete lighting upgrade at the Blue Coat Church of England School in Coventry has already seen significant savings after changing out their fluorescent lighting and replacing it with Sylvania fixtures.
Located in Coventry, the Blue Coat Church of England School & Music College is a member of the Inspire Multi-Academy Trust, providing a rich and challenging curriculum which allows their students to thrive while “learning to live and experiencing life in all its fullness.”
The school was lit almost exclusively by fluorescent lighting, with the rising energy costs and fluorescent lamp phase out, the Inspire Education Trust decided that it was important to completely upgrade the lighting across the site. Therefore, maximising savings and improving overall lifespan on the fittings and need for staff to regularly replace the fluorescent alternatives. Fluorescent T8 lamps were phased out at the end of August 2023, with T5 lamps following in March 2024.
To save the issue the school may have had trying to find replacements this year after they have been phased out, the school acted to significantly improve the light quality and colour temperature by installing LED fittings.

Sylvania Lighting provide turnkey upgrades to two Stratford School Academy sites in the heart of London.
Located in the borough of Newham, the school is rooted in the local community and aims to develop and provide an inspirational learning journey for all students, regardless of starting points or circumstances.
Due to fluorescent lighting phase out in the coming months, and with some lamps already phased out, many schools replaced their fluorescent lighting in the summer of 2023. Stratford School Academy were no different, with the existing lighting made up of fluorescent technology, (mostly t5 tubes,) which were phased out in September 2023. Sylvania were tasked with providing turnkey upgrades across both the Grosvenor Road and Upton Lane sites and switching all the lighting to new highly efficient LED fittings.
Sylvania were introduced to the school via an energy broker as the school were keen to understand what could be done to mitigate big spends on energy. At a time when energy pricing was, and continues to be, incredibly high, the school were looking for different ways to lower their energy consumption. An LED upgrade was a necessity, and after investigating the potential savings they could be making, the school decided to proceed with the upgrades.
